Owner of a Family Business – August 2021

My wife & I purchased our business in 2003 in the North Island, employing 5 people. A business that had considerable potential for growth within New Zealand. We expanded into other regions including the South Island in both and grew the business. Our son came on board in 2009 bringing his owned capital into the business from some successful property transactions. The business has grown to be employing over 100 people. We have also ventured into agriculture to provide diversity and land ownership.

In 2018 we were looking at the possibility of selling the business, or at least look at our options towards the future. As a family business, we needed an open mind and the right person to assist with this.

We heard about Tim through word of mouth. Our son approached Tim, and our first meeting was in mid-2018. As it has turned out since then Tim has provided us with regular business consultancy and we have further grown our business. We have been approached by others to look at selling, however we continue to utilise Tim more as a consultant to help us with our future overall business direction.
